For practice on my first post I thought I would write about one of my favorite actresses, Shannon Elizabeth. She also plays poker.
Shannon Elizabeth has enjoyed a successful and diversified career in the spotlight.
She was born Shannon Elizabeth Fadal and raised in Waco, Texas. Elizabeth took an interest in sports early in life and played tennis at a young age. At one point, she considered a pro tennis career but instead decided to work in modeling.
Elizabeth carved out an acting career after high school. She earned her big break as the sexy foreign exchange student Nadia in the 1999 smash hit "American Pie." Elizabeth was cast in featured roles in several other popular movies, including "Scary Movie" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." She was also a contestant on the sixth season of "Dancing With The Stars" in 2008 where she partnered with professional dancer Derek Hough. Elizabeth was eventually eliminated.
Since achieving fame as an actress, Elizabeth has carved out a thriving second career as a celebrity poker player. She reached the semifinals of the 2007 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship where she lost to the eventual tournament winner, Paul Wasicka. She has participated in the World Series of Poker in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Away from acting and poker, Elizabeth does work for Animal Avengers. It is a non-profit animal rescue she founded with ex-husband Joseph Reitman.
Here are some good Websites about Shannon Elizabeth.
